Name:rass_bestie
Birthdate:Aug 18
Character Name: Omega
Series: Doctor Who.
Age: A millenia or two or ten. Of course most of that time was spent doing nothing bar survival, so don't expect a lot of wisdom.
From When?: When he and Scentia died. (Well, it was open to interpretation whether Omega actually ceased to exist but his body probably did.) Canonically, after Arc of Infinity but before Snakedance.
Inmate/Warden: Inmate. Omega kills for terrible reasons, petty things like not allowing people to pass knowledge of things that he felt himself guilty of to his fiancée, or not caring if his emergence from the Antimatter universe would destroy our universe. His obsession with how he's remembered has also driven him to kill.

He's since graduated and has a Molenski Univarius as an item.

Abilities/Powers: The body he’s gotten is the copy of the Doctor’s he was trying to stabilise before the Doctor interfered and thus he has the ability to regenerate (although kind of mute on the barge), double hearts, time senses, resistance to most forms of radiation. Biologically, he has the same weaknesses as any Time Lord, aspirin's not good for him, he's slightly more resilient but not much more than a human.

He’s the man who invented the TARDIS and allowed them the ability to Time travel, so he’s a genius even by Time Lord standards.

With the Doctor's biodata, he's managed to pick up the Doctor's telepathic imprint as well. An unintentional side effect, it gave him the Doctor's memories but also the Doctor's personality.

The Doctor, when Omega choses to speak to him, sees Omega as a kind of a ghost, which Omega has to explain away. The Doctor is very independent of Omega, the only real control he has over him is his memories. If the Doctor personality is active, the Omega has to convince him if he wants him to do anything for him.

Omega is a very powerful telepath. This is generally how he communicates (even in the Doctor's body) so it shouldn't be hampered in this way. Though Omega's power to effect people's minds should be hampered, not just to prevent him from controling others, but also because when he loses control, Omega's conscience tends to push people in to dramatic reenactments of his crimes, which can be violent but not necessarily accurate.

Personality: Omega is, at heart, a brilliant, curious and even charismatic man. He has a way about him, people come to him and there are definite hints as to how he became so admired within Time Lord society. However, what he's been through has made Omega bitter, paranoid and very angry.

First of all, he's spent millennia thinking he had been abandoned and betrayed by people and more importantly, his best friend, Rassilon. He grew angry and bitter and desperately lonely in that other universe. He also got used to the relative safety peace of that universe, even as it was so toxic to destroy his body and he resented being there, no one actively sought his destruction.

Then he managed to break through and he refused to see what damage he might do to his old universe by trying to escape. It took the Doctor's intervention for him to realise that he had no body to return with. He saw this as a loss of part of his identity and it shook him.

When he came in contact with Hedin, who was to help him escape, he was appreciative and happy that someone seemed to appreciate him.

He, in a fit of pique at the Doctor, had Hedin get him his biodata for duplication.

This might have been a mistake in retrospect, while it was possible that he would have some other Time Lord's identity bonded with him, the threat with this would likely extend not much further than 'irritation'.

But the Doctor isn't just any Time Lord. Away from the sheltered life of Gallifrey, the Doctor was open to new experiences that other Time Lords were not. The effect of this life means a few things, the Doctor's personality sometimes reemerges but most importantly, some of it leaks through into Omega's through his memories.

Given the fact that Omega had large gaps in his memories after he spent this time in the antimatter universe, so his mind has taken some of the Doctor's more emotional memories and integrated into his own. Particularly dangerous was the Doctor's guilt.

Omega isn't terribly used to feeling guilty, so his reaction was to try to protect Scentia from his shame and killing those who threatened to expose him and eventually rejecting Scentia when she told him she didn't care about what he had 'done'.

Now that he's aware of the leak and how vulnerable it made him, he's very resentful of the Doctor.

He would resent very much being placed on the barge, what he wanted was to return to his own Universe with Scentia and spend eternity there with him and now that prospect is gone.

Having said that, he'd be very curious about how the Barge operates and will want to explore it's machinery. He'll be interested enough to not want to leave immediately.

Path to Redemption: Omega still has that little boy within him, the boy who Time Lord legends wrote about as being Peylix, the Annoyingly Curious. He enjoys discoveries and puzzles to solve, especially if they lead up to real results.

Real progress would be made in helping Omega deal with whatever guilt that the Doctor's memories throw his way and helping him separate but nonetheless accept the Doctor's memories as different to his own.

Helping him resolve his anger with others without his resorting to violence would be a good solid step. Remind him that murder wouldn't help his reputation, even if they didn't come back.

Speaking of reputation, most of Omega's problems stems with this obsession of his about how he's seen by people that matter to him. Making him see that he can only help how people see him by behaving like the hero he used to be now, rather than lashing out at whatever challenges how he's viewed, which as it stands is a Time Lord Mad Man tm. He's much more than that.

History: Omega started out life as a bright, intelligent and inquistive boy named Peylix, always asking questions to the point where he actively annoyed people. He wasn't constrained to the thinking processes of his peers and elders which ended up making him clash with their narrowminded ways and having one teacher give him the lowest grade possible, Omega.

This shame, despite both Omega's and his teacher's best wishes, turned into to a badge of honour. Rassilon became his friend largely because of this honour and encouraged him to fully adapt it over Peylix.

Rassilon and Omega helped forge Gallifreyan society into a forward thinking society, though on the back of a bloody insurrection, which Omega disapproved of. The pair's interests were sufficiently divergent that Rassilon rose to the top of politics while Omega was happy to stay and be one of the finest engineers with plenty of backing for his projects. In fact, he was the original designer of the TARDIS.

This Omega considered his finest time but it was not to last. Whether Rassilon knew what was to happen or not, their experiments in time travel was to come at a price. With Omega the ‘brains’ of the operation, they caused a supernova with the Hand of Omega, in the hopes the energy released would allow them the power to time travel.

Omega was trapped on the other side, an antimatter universe. The Time Lords thought him dead, but he clung onto life by sheer force of will alone, hoping that he’d be rescued.

As time ticked on, Omega realised that he had simply been abandoned and that no one was coming to rescue him.

Still he endured, his growing anger sustaining him until finally he began to break through the break enough to try to steal a Time Lord.

This event alarmed the Time Lords, as the source of their energy was also the place where Omega was breaking out of. They had to lock down but there was an exception, the Doctor. They realised that the Doctor couldn’t do it alone, so used whatever’s left to send him an earlier version of himself and an even earlier one, as an advisor.

Despite kidnapping UNIT along with it, Omega brought the Doctor to his ‘happy home’, in order to take his place instead of him, because while he could survive in that universe it was only by his will that the universe could remain stable enough for him to survive, he couldn’t leave without a will to take his place. Given that the Doctor was the only Time Lord available, then the Doctor was duly elected.

It was only when he readied himself to leave and took off his mask that he realised the great flaw in his place. His body was gone, his will was the only thing left of him.

Enraged, Omega wanted to destroy all things, but the Doctor, using a piece of matter, caused an explosion that allowed he and his friends escape.

They thought him killed but forgot that given that Omega didn’t exist bar his will, meant that the explosion didn’t harm him either.

In his second attempt, he found a Time Lord who revered him and was sensitive to his cause, Hedin, who worked to help him find a way into the matter universe.

He wanted to use the Doctor’s biodata to bond with him and create a matter body. With Hedrin’s help, the data was recovered and with a little rigged execution, he managed to use the Matrix and the biodata to create his body.

Unfortunately, the Doctor got to his equipment first, sabotaging it before he could stabilise the body. Despite his escape attempt, the Doctor managed to coral him and was forced to kill him, when Omega decided that he'd rather blow the universe than return to his prison.

However, Omega didn't die. He was heavily disorientated, but managed to find his way into a nearby TARDIS.

Eritikus, a Time Lord convinced by the Doctor's encounters with Omega that Omega was a dictatorial monster even more so than the legends might say of Rassilon, had landed his TARDIS in Amsterdam to catch the end of their confrontation.

Omega managed to find his way onto his TARDIS and hide. Aboard the ship, he was able to recover and the Doctor's bioprint stablised.

Once Eritikus arrived on Agonal, Omega left, feeling disorientated and lost. This where Scentia, having recently found her lover in bed with another woman came across him.

Moved by his lost looks and his story, Scentia fell in love with him and agreed to marry and spend the rest of eternity with him when he decided he had had enough of this universe and the antimatter universe was now his home.

Unfortunately, the unstable region and the Doctor's consciousness strove to damage their plans. The 'Jolly Chronolidays' trip had on a reenactment of how Omega supposedly got trapped in the antimatter universe. Unconsciously troubled by a conscience that wasn't even his, Omega's power affected one of the actors, playing Vandekirian, having him change the story and attacking the actor playing Omega, to 'prevent' him from destroy a race called the 'Scintillans'.

Even as this was happening, Omega allowed his Doctor persona to surface and he promptly began to investigate the events that Omega caused. He couldn't hide from the Doctor forever, and slowly came to light, telling the Doctor he was merely a ghost whose existence was permitted by Sentia's latent telepathic ability.

He continued to try to kill anyone who might tell Sentia about the Scintillans but 'Vandekirian' told her before Omega could kill the man Vandekirian possessed. Omega becomes increasingly unstable, scaring Sentia away with his temper and his Doctor self sent a distress signal to the Time Lords and began to realise his true nature.

The actual Doctor arrived to find that Omega was under attack by his own psionic energy which overwhelmed him. He lost consciousness and when he recovered, confessed to Sentia about the Scintillans and what he was up to. Sentia wanted to forgive him, but this horrified Omega instead of calming him and he attacked her.

The Doctor explained to him what was going on and Omega was angered, having been brought down by an event and a conscience that weren't even his.

His condemnation of the Doctor had to wait as Sentia had taken control of the bridge and Omega went after her. Her madness turned her into 'Vandekirian' and sent them both into Omega's black hole while the Doctor and the passengers got away safely.
